Rocket Delivery Services Ltd is a young courier company at the beginning of an expansion plan so we have a number of driving vacancies. We are extremely passionate about what we do and are looking for people with the same commitment and drive. We have an outstanding fleet at our disposal whereby we deliver everything from raw materials to consumables and finished goods. A day in the life of a Delivery Driver – a view from a Rocket driver:
“On a typical day I like to arrive at the yard early to have a bit of banter with the guys first, before picking up my van and doing my van checks to make sure it’s fit for road. I also have a brief with my on site manager about the day ahead. I collect my device, it’s got my route all pre-planned out for me.
I then head down to the depot to collect my parcels, it’s just a 5-10 minute drive to get there. The yard marshalls guide me through the depot grounds and into the warehouse when it’s my wave time. Once I’m inside the warehouse I load up my van, which doesn’t take long and that’s me ready to head out on road for the day.
The app on the device tells me exactly where I need to go from my first stop to my last. Every day out on road is different from the last as things like the weather can effect it, I like to come prepared for everything the Scottish weather can throw at me!
I like to deliver in different areas to help me adapt and learn to deliver in different environments, such as residential areas to busy high streets. The key is being organised and quick decision making!
I’m always on the move, which is good as it keeps me active. It’s also rewarding knowing I’m delivering necessary items to customers and they’re looking forward to the parcels arriving. I feel a good deed has been accomplished!
Once I’ve delivered all my parcels I travel back to the yard to debrief with my manager and drop off the van and device.”
